I have my own data source and I use a combobox to show the available items. When the user types in the box, I use the "oncompose" event to fire the selected event. It works fine. The problem is that if the user types fast, they may get some items already selected. They can't unselect them because the autocomplete events don't allow you to unselect the previously selected item. Is there any way to reset the "oncompose" event to its original state (that is, no items selected)? I looked at the event args and there doesn't seem to be anything to set that state. A: Yes, you can use the AutoCompleteMode Property to set the state of the autocomplete control. It has a number of settings. The value is AutoCompleteMode.Suggest, which is the default. In this mode, the values you type in are saved in the textbox. To get rid of the previously selected items, you could set the mode to AutoCompleteMode.Static. To set it to AutoCompleteMode.Suggest, myAutocomplete.AutoCompleteMode = AutoCompleteMode.Suggest To set it to AutoCompleteMode.Static, myAutocomplete.AutoCompleteMode = AutoCompleteMode.Static So, when you type something, the autocomplete will show a list of the recently entered text. And if you select an item from the list, it will be inserted into the textbox. If you want to get rid of the items which are already typed in, then use AutoCompleteMode.Suggest. 1.
